October - Story of the Month

Story of the Month is Linda Hoyland's "A Taste of Honey"!

I'm still playing around with Twitter. I found a way to automatically send NAN's RSS Feed to the service. So I've set up an account solely for NAN, which will give you an additional opportunity to keep track of new stories in the archive.

If you have a Twitter account, follow NAN@Twitter to see instantly whether there was an update to the site - you will see both new stories and new chapters. If you want updates practially appearing on your desktop, you might want to check out TwitterFox, which will give you a popup every time the account is updated. Really neat!

A few days ago, an email was making the rounds asking all MEFA reviewers to review, review, review. Because after all, this is what makes the MEFAs an unique experience for everyone involved.

Of course, with so many stories nominated in so many categories, it might be hard to find just the right story for you. If you're totally lost and don't know where to start, why not review a story hosted on NAN? The following stories archived here are nominated this year:

There are many more of our authors nominated, but for the moment I decided to concentrate on what is actually hosted here. I may or may not make a list for Teitho stories, because from what I've seen a lot of stories are nominated that were originally written for Teitho. But don't count on it, because that will need a lot of digging and clicking links!

In any case, nominated authors are invited to pimp their stories in their profiles or add a MEFA button to the story notes!

I must admit, I never spent much energy on the featured stories. Whenever the mood hit me, I decided to change the three stories that were featured on the main page. This strategy was far from perfect, so I decided to try something different.

From now on, we will only have one featured story at a time, which will be featured for one month (this way, more stories than before should end up being featured). So, not surprisingly, it will be called Story of the Month. Instead of me deciding which story should be featured I'm delegating all the work to you! At the beginning of the month, I will make a poll listing all stories that were finished the previous month. Then you have one week to vote for the one you liked best. The story with the most votes will win the title of Story of the Month (and a shiny banner which has yet to be created *g*) and will be displayed prominently for the rest of the month. 

The poll for July was just added, go ahead and place your vote! 

Maybe you have already noticed that the top menu has changed slightly. If not, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that we have a new feature for you. Clicking on the "recs" link will take you to Never Enough Heroes, a blog full of Lord of the Rings fanfiction recommendations. The site is loosely tied to NAN, therefore you will find mostly angsty stuff centering around Aragorn and/or Legolas there. These recs are brought to you by none other than Thorongirl , possibly the only person to know each and every Aragorn story that has ever been written:)

Feel free to browse around, go straight to the introductory post or check out Thorongirl's wonderful recommendations!

The RSS Feed is up and running again. So if you've given up trying to get NAN to cooperate with the feed reader of your choice, have another go at it. It should be working now, displaying new stories complete with summary and rating.

Updated stories are not displayed. If you want to be informed about new chapters, you should add the story to your favourites. You will then get email alerts when new chapters are being posted.
